Precision instruments reach for the skies
Metrology solutions for applications ranging from miniature electronics to the largest aircraft will be showcased by Nikon Metrology at Southern Manufacturing 2016.
The company says its measuring and precision instruments contribute to a high performance design-for-manufacturing process.
The product range includes co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical CMMs, 3D laser scanners, handheld laser line probes, X-ray and computed tomography, optical CNC measuring systems, measuring microscopes, laser radar, and metrology software for 3D scanning, 3D digitising, 3D inspection and reverse engineering.
Among its current R&D initiatives, the company is delivering innovative methods of integrating metrology inside robotic production processes – particularly for aircraft structures, composite assemblies and turbine blades.
It has also helped the automotive industry, in areas such as component inspection, pilot plant metrology, die and mould applications, sheet metal metrology, 3D inspection of powertrain components assembly plant set up, flush and gap inspection, and full vehicle inspection.
