HMI control eases EDM machine set-up

GF Machining preview edit_tmb Advanced wire EDM and five-axis machine tool technologies will be in action at the GF Machining Solutions stand at Southern Manufacturing 2016.

The Cut E350 wire EDM (electrical discharge machining) machine makes its UK debut. The compact, rigidly-built machine is designed for provides precision component manufacturers and toolmakers. It is equipped with the company’s HMI (human machine interface) control for fast, error-free set-up and operation, claims the company. The integrated Intelligent Collision Protection system eliminates collision-related downtime and damage to the machine and workpiece.

The IPG digital generator delivers high cutting speeds, accuracies and surface finishes. The Expert systems make it suitable for machining stepped work-pieces, sharp angles and small radii, and tapers and cones.

Also on the stand will be the Mikron HEM 500U. It has simultaneous five-axis, as well as three + two, machining capability and is equipped with a powerful 12,000rpm StepTec spindle for fast removal rates. There is a 30-position tool changer for high productivity, and linear scales, probes and Smart software for increased accuracies and process reliability, says the company.
