Automation and ergonomics ease inspection

Link Hamsan preview edit_tmb The FreeSight system from Optilia, Sweden can be seen on the Link Hamson stand at Southern Manufacturing. It has a 500mm high camera to allow the user a free and unrestricted view of the monitor. A generous 150mm working distance and fast auto-focus allows for varying height assemblies and manual handling of boards. The ergonomic design allows the user to look straight ahead, offering the most comfortable viewing angle for inspection, reducing tiredness for better concentration levels and improved productivity, says the company.

The automated InspectoScan Systems from STPElectronics, France is also available, and includes the InspectoScan-S for first article inspection, small to medium batch automated inspection and prototyping. The InspectoScan-C uses a 360o rotational (0 to 90o angle) camera for through-hole PCB automated inspection, covering component absence/presence/orientation, coating inspection (UV light source), mechanical part verification and even character/barcode recognition.
