Hurco’s machining centre is compact but productive

Hurco review edit_tmb The VM series of three-axis machining centres was highlighted at Southern Manufacturing 2015 by Hurco. It features a small footprint with a large work cube and, claims the company, no other mill packs as much productivity into such an efficiently designed package.

The VM10i with XYZ axis travel of 660 x 406 x 508mm and table size of 762 x 406mm is pictured. Other models in the series are the VM5i, VM20i, VM30i and VM10HSi.

Equipped with single screen control the machining centres use DXF transfer to eliminate data entry errors and save time by importing the CAD image, selecting desired features and using the WinMax control to create the program. AutoCalc automatically trigs out the missing information, with no calculator needed. Another feature is Program Interrupt which stops cutting, retracts the tool, and allows the user to jog any axis.

Other features such as concurrent programming and UltiMotion to reduce the cycle time by up to 30% and UltiMonitor for remote monitoring from any web browser, are designed to ease operation.
