Fibre laser creates high contrast barcodes and scales on aluminium

fimark_tmb By adding a fibre laser to portfolio, Southern Manufacturing 2015 exhibitor Fimark is now able to offer smooth black marks on anodised aluminium, as well as labels containing QR codes, Datamatrix codes, barcodes, scales and logos.

Environmental testing shows that the mark is below the surface of the anodic layer and that the surface has not been damaged by the action of the laser. This means that the high contrast marks can be used where aluminium is sited in outside areas, as well as conventional interior uses such as automotive backlit buttons and fascias, medical, aerospace and general manufacturing environments.

The marking is permanent, easily read in low light or bright conditions and corrosion resistant, says the company.
