Compact solutions from Hurco increase productivity

Southern Manufacturing 2_tmbBelieving that a huge amount of flexible productivity can be derived from a small space on a shop floor, Hurco Europe reinforces its ‘compact production solutions’ theme at Southern Manufacturing 2017 with its VM10i vertical machining centre (VMC) and a TM6i CNC lathe .

Within a footprint of nominally 1.8 by 1.8m, the VM10i offers a working volume of 660 x 406 X 508mm, which is one of the best ratios of any VMC on the market, claims the company. A 20-station swing-arm tool-changer and 24m/min rapids help to minimise non-cutting time, while a 762 x 406mm table with a maximum weight capacity of 340kg and a 11kW, 10,000RPM spindle complete the package.

The TM6 slant-bed turning centre has a tiny footprint for its specification, which includes a six-inch chuck and a maximum cutting diameter of 316mm. Distance between centres is 403mm. The machine is sized for even the smallest of shops and is well-suited to bar work up to 42mm diameter. The single-piece bed casting controls cutting forces. A swarf conveyor, Renishaw tool-pre-setter and parts-catcher are included, together with a three-jaw chuck.

Both machines benefit from the company’s latest Max 5 control with 128Gbyte hard drive and 4Gbyte RAM standard. Conversational/NC programming software with controls import externally prepared programs.
