China Outsourcing preview edit_tmb By sourcing components and sub-assemblies from China, China Outsourcing provides low cost, low risk manufacturing and offers machining, all types of casting, forging, stamping, fabrication and assembly capabilities.

Visitors to Southern Manufacturing 2016 had the opportunity to find out about the process, which begins with a site visit by UK technical and quality manager, Mike Skipper, to discuss operation both in the UK and in China. The company says it is difficult to know what saving is achieved, as customers are rarely prepared to divulge current supplier costs, but it expects to save 25% on western supplier costs.

The engineering and quality team liaise with the customer’s engineering and quality team and pass on all required information to the team in China who will work with the supplier. The general manager in China, Chris Kay, has over 20 years’ experience in quality management and will be directly involved in getting samples made and ensuring that production units follow the same procedure. Samples will be delivered with documentation (FAIR (First Article Inspection Report), material certifications, for example).

The company is proud of the fact that since the company was formed in 2002, once a part has moved into production, no customer has taken that part and moved it to another supplier.
