Cables and connectors come together
Products from LEMO’s newly-acquired specialist cable manufacturer, Northwire Industries, were highlighted at Southern Manufacturing 2015.
Northwire complements LEMO’s range of connectors with cables made to requirements, in small quantities and on a fast turn-round. The company offers over-moulded assemblies for medical, test and measurement, defence, robotics and automation industries. Quality approvals include ISO9001 and AS9100C.
Another highlight was the Tiny Trio connector based around smaller diameter contacts while still having high contact ratings due to the contact design with an inbuilt spring. The company has squeezed five contacts each rated to 1.5A into its 00 series which is only 6mm diameter. It is suitable for communications and other equipment where very small yet tough connectors are required for handling signals. The company also offers 12 contacts in the 0B series which is only 9.5mm diameter, also 1.5A continuous rated.
Other key product on show was the waterproof T Series, based on the established B Series connectors, and the MM Series, claimed to be the smallest of the ratchet coupling connectors, and significantly smaller alternatives to standard military connectors (e.g. MIL C38999) with up to four contacts in a ruggedised micro housing.
