Bespoke enclosure prototype can be ready in days
For those under time pressure needing an enclosure now, or for those at the start of what will be a protracted design project, Smartboxx offers an enclosure to suit requirements, manufactured without tooling. Showcased at Southern Manufacturing 2016 by i4innovation, the service takes a CAD, sketch or collection of parts and turns it into a viable, production-ready prototype, in days if necessary.
An initial consultation establishes what format of enclosure is going to suit those requirements best. A CAD is provided at the design stage, allowing the customer to work through assembly requirements as well as assessing the end product’s suitability.
For the prototyping stage, there is no tooling cost. This is where cost savings, additional features and branding options are established, says the company. The production-ready sample or pre-production batch can be manufactured using the same technologies for batch manufacture and there is no wait for tooling to be produced.
Enclosures are manufactured in Norfolk, packaged and dispatched.
