Vacuum component expertise from Torr Scientific
Southern Manufacturing exhibitor Torr Scientific is a great example of the many specialist firms taking part in the show. Torr Scientific brings together a unique blend of expertise, skills and equipment from the worlds of thin film vacuum coating, vacuum instrumentation and photonics. Now in its 16th year of trading, the team at Torr Scientific has many years of experience in the UHV and electro-optical industries.
The company manufactures X-ray anodes and sources for XPS and XRF systems, the widest range of UHV Viewports and also processes anti-reflective coatings for customer laser applications. Phosphor screens for RHEED and LEED applications and UHV/Vacuum chambers and fabrications are also manufactured.
Products are manufactured in cleanroom conditions and facilities include vacuum furnaces, TIG welding, helium leak testing, e-beam and sputter coating systems and a UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer. Non-standard components are designed and manufactured to suit customer requirements and include vacuum brazing of hermetic seals, heat treatment processes and thin film coating of a wide variety of materials.
Torr Scientific participates in development projects and has recently developed a novel X-ray source in collaboration with The University of Surrey. This compact and high performance source incorporates the company’s enhanced thin film coated CVD diamond anode technology.
