Kemtron advises how to protect performance

There are many ways to ventilate enclosures and Kemtron is able to advise on how this can be done without compromising effectiveness.

Perforated sheet, metal or metallised plastic can be used in electronic enclosures but RFI/EMI shielded enclosures may require other materials.

Waveguides provide superior shielding over a wide frequency range. They can be circular, rectangular or honeycomb-shaped. The honeycomb vent is a series of tubes that acts as a waveguide for electromagnetic waves into or out of the enclosure, attenuating the waveforms via tubes which should be at least three times as long as the diameter.

Aluminium honeycomb offers high shielding performance, light weight and good airflow because it is 96% open area. A typical shielded enclosure will use two honeycomb ventilation panels – one as the inlet and one for the exhaust.

Aluminium honeycomb vents are supplied in a frame with an EMI gasket. There are a variety of frame styles to suit different mounting methods.
