Industrial enclosure targets Industry 4.0

Plastic, die-cast and metal enclosures manufactured by Hammond Manufacturing, will be showcased at this year’s Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show.

Enclosures optimised for use in industrial applications, particularly meeting the needs of the IoT and Industry 4.0 will be highlighted, as electronic systems are increasingly distributed throughout the “smart factory” for interoperability, information transparency and decentralised decision making.

In addition to the wide range of standard enclosures, the company will also show examples of application-specific plastic and die-cast enclosures that demonstrate its in-house capability, which has recently received a further £100k+ investment. CNC milling, drilling, punching, engraving and printing are available, as are EMC coatings, front panel overlays, custom colours for moulded enclosures and a variety of paint finishes for metal enclosures. PDF drawings or CAD files for all products are available, allowing customers to specify the modifications required.

Physical protection of the electronics in an industrial environment will often demand EMC protection and sealing against dust and water. Several designs of specialist industrial enclosures are available, notably the 1554 and 1555 IP66 polycarbonate and ABS range and the 1550 and 1590 die-cast enclosures giving excellent EMC protection and sealing up to IP67. All families are available in a wide number of standard sizes. Associated with the latest manufacturing and industrial technology, hand-held data capture equipment is becoming increasingly prevalent. The ergonomic soft-sided 1553 family is available in both standard and IP sealed versions for use in commercial and industrial environments.

For more mainstream rack mounted applications, the latest additions to the RM family of 19inch rack mounting and desktop enclosures will be featured, with examples from the product portfolio of more than 5000 standard designs.
