ETPS launch quadrant power systems at Southern Electronics

ETPS preview_tmb Four quadrant power systems are being launched by ETPS at Southern Electronics 2015. Each system can operate as either an AC or DC power supply, as well as an AC or DC electronic load. This versatility allows performance and qualification testing of virtually any power consuming or power feeding device, says the company.

A specialised GridSim GUI can simulate a variety of possible grid conditions. Load balancing, brownouts and voltage spikes can be recreated, as well as country specific grid conditions. The software has all relevant grid feed-in regulations pre-installed to ensure any grid feeding power equipment conforms to compliance standards including CENELEC, DIN and IEC.
While load testing products, the EAC-ACS-4Q can regenerate any excess sink energy back to the grid. Each unit has an inbuilt monitoring system which continually checks local grid conditions. It then synchronises with these conditions providing a smooth transition of energy back to the grid. Typical energy losses are around 10% (traditional electronic loads waste 100% of reusable energy by dissipating it as heat).

An 11U high rackmounting case is suitable for cramped testing environments. Systems are modular so they can be combined to test higher power applications, while still being able to operate independently.

The technical team will also showcase DC sources, AC power supplies, bidirectional PSUs, electronic loads, DC/AC inverters, high voltage PSUs and battery chargers.
