Coating technology increases cutting speed

WNT Southern manufacturing_tmb Innovative cutting tool developments by WNT can be seen at Southern Manufacturing 2015 , including inserts featuring its Dragonskin coating technology.

The inserts benefit from the technology’s increased durability, faster cutting speeds, and improved process security across a range of turning and milling applications, says the company. It is also claimed to enhance tool life in combination with the latest high performance substrates and geometries. The result are quantifiable productivity gains of up to 80%, according to the company.

A range of turning inserts with a chipbreaker geometry targets close contour machining and general turning. The -XU chipbreaker overcomes machining problems, especially where excellent swarf control is required, and is available on inserts in the CNMG, DNMG, VNMG and WNMG ISO insert styles.

Visitors will also be able to discuss other additions to the range of tooling and workholding systems. These include high feed indexable milling system, the MCR solid carbide cutters designed with Vortex and trochoidal milling strategies in mind, as well as the MNG Zero Point workholding system.
