Yamaha Motor to exhibit at Southern for the first time

One of the biggest new names at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2013 will need no introduction: Yamaha – perhaps best known for its motorcycles and musical instruments -established Yamaha Motor IM in Europe last year, bringing its expertise in high-tech SMT production solutions to the European arena for the first. Globally, Yamaha Motor has already enjoyed considerable success, having installed some 30,000 SMT machines worldwide. At Southern Manufacturing 2013, the firm brings its impressive range of SMT machines to Farnborough for the first time.

YSM40_RGB_tmb Yamaha’s YSM40 SMT machine is targeted at high density, high volume applications with mounting speeds over 100,000 components per hour. In addition, the machine is capable of feeder exchange on the fly which further increases productivity. An innovative tray-components supply carriage enables all pallets to be changed in one go.

From the same stable is a combined X-ray, optical, infrared and laser inspection machine. It is claimed to be the fastest and effective 3D inspection system and the first that can do full X-ray and optical inline inspection at the same time.

Also being highlighted will be a machine for placing large heavy components and odd shapes in standard SMT processes. It can handle parts 100 by 100 mm by 45 mm high and weighing up to 1 kg. Applications include shielding cases in tablets and power modules for electric automotive drives. This machine can automate processes that previously could not be performed by conventional surface mount technology.
