Versatility and service from SouMac
As a PCB manufacturer for prototype and small to medium volume production levels, Southern Electronics exhibitor SouMac offers both SMT and conventional through-hole lead-free assembly processes. In addition, for those applications that were exempted from compliance with the RoSH ‘Lead-Free’ regulations, it can also satisfy the demands for Lead solder assemblies.
Like most electronic contractors, it offers a board repair service. However, it takes this a stage further with an ‘Onsite’ repair service. This is especially valuable when critical production machinery is down. It is claimed that the service can save up to 60% of OEM board repair costs.
Perhaps more importantly, it can slash days off the downtime awaiting for spares to be delivered. As part of the same service, ways of improving the performance of underperforming production equipment can be investigated. For older equipment with limited spares availability, it can reverse engineer boards.
To maintain the highest quality standards, it has installed Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machines and a real-time high resolution X-ray system. The latter plays a vital role in monitoring BGA placement and soldering processes. It can also be used to confirm counterfeit components.
