Shopfloor inspections measure up
The new Xtreme CNC CMM from Aberlink, to be shown at Southern Manufacturing 2018, boasts a non-Cartesian structure and uses linear motors and mechanical bearings. It offers a robust solution for undertaking precise inspection routines on the shop-floor. The cost-effective configuration ensures that it maintains its accuracy at very fast measurement rates, says the company, without suffering from the accumulative inaccuracies that occur in conventional thee-axis Cartesian arrangements.
To illustrate its high-speed, high-accuracy capabilities when used for both contact and non-contact applications, the Axiom Too CNC CMM will be performing inspection routines using both Renishaw’s RTP20 touch probe and Aberlink’s own camera system. Despite the former’s generous measuring volume, the machine’s compact design occupies a relatively small footprint, with the machine’s controller and all peripherals housed within its workbench.
Also being put through its paces will be the latest iteration of the company’s inspection software. In addition to touch-trigger probing and vision measurement, 3D CNC Inspection software Mk IV now enables the accurate, rapid scanning of features and profiles. In addition to enhanced functionality it has an improved CAD Comparison module and an easy-to-use offline programming from CAD software module.
