Potters rose to ventilator challenge

Potters rose to ventilator challenge

Part of the recent £1.5million investment cycle, the dedicated assembly unit within the Potters manufacturing facility is arranged into modular workstations and assembly lines capable of adapting to different sized assemblies and component needs. Being able to vary in batch sizes from one to several thousand was key to the success in delivering the demands placed on Potters by VentilatorChallengeUK in 2020.

Supplying thousands of assembled mechanical chassis and associated components to manufacture ventilators to help the NHS in the fight against Covid, the company operated continuous manufacturing for several months.

The lessons learned through this period have been instrumental in the development of a more connected manufacturing process at the company, from design to concept to delivery. Dean Bailey, operations director, remarks: ”The industry has changed greatly over the past eighteen months . . . . We need to innovate as well as motivate to achieve our customer’s goals and expectations”.
