New hazardous area vibration sensors from Monitran

MTN228_tmb Monitran will be using Southern Manufacturing and Electronics 2014 to showcase its recently announced intrinsically safe sensors. Certified to ATEX and IECEx Group II, the MTN/2285IT series of sensors sealed to IP67, available with integral cables or 4-pin connectors, and are ideal for measuring vibration levels and temperature in areas where explosive gases, liquids or dust may be present.

Monitran will also be showcasing its microcontroller-based monitoring system, MTN/5000. Based on a system developed for monitoring a hovercraft’s lift and propulsion fans, and subsequently adapted for other applications, the MTN/5000 has matured into an off-the-shelf product. Housed in an extruded aluminium enclosure the system features a 3.5 inch TFT touch screen with a high-performance ARM Cortex-M3 processor. It has an easy-to-navigate menu that enables users to set data sampling periods, ranges and accuracy levels plus vibration threshold (alarm) levels on a channel-by-channel basis or across all 12 channels. In addition, the system has 12 digital I/O channels that can be used for multiple alarms or a communication channel. Integration is also possible via Ethernet plus the raw signals from the sensors are made available via BNCs for bearing analysis.
