Label positions anywhere on PCB

Nutek preview edit_tmb To provide a level of flexibility, Nutek has incorporated a label feeder in its PCB laser marking cell. The Nutek LMC-S3 laser with label feeder and applicator, to be showcased at Southern Manufacturing 2016, can place a blank, laser markable label in any position on the PCB. After placement, the CO² laser marks a datamatrix, barcode or text on the blank label, while the next label is collected by the applicator. The user is able to specify marking position to either first apply a label or directly mark into the PCB’s solder resist. In addition, double-sided application of labels is possible, using the machine’s integrated inverter.

Direct marking has lower running costs, reduced cycle time and has process reliability, but is not suitable to be laser etched, meaning a label placement machine is used instead. This feeder and applicator solves the dilemma. Options are to laser mark the PCB using the laser source, apply a label which is marked using a laser source, in-situ or a combination of direct marking and label marking per product.

The label feeder and applicator can be retrofitted on-site.
