Energy waste can be reduced in compressed air says BCAS

Reducing energy waste in compressed air is vital to the efficiency of a manufacturing process, says BCAS. It leads to cost savings and to prolonged equipment life.

Experts from the compressed air specialist were on-hand at Southern Manufacturing 2019 to advise on what can be done to reduce energy waste in compressed air. Of the total energy supplied to a compressor, as little as eight to 10% may be converted into useful energy that can do work at the point of use.

The company demonstrated some of the key measures that can be put in place to improve the energy efficiency of compressed air systems, from system design and maintenance, to data logging and air leak detection audits.

Data logging equipment was available to view on the stand, alongside a range of Gardner Denver compressors and Elmo Rietschle vacuum and blower equipment.
