Desktop 3D printer creates prototypes
Desktop 3D printing for engineering applications was the focus of the Creat3D stand at Southern this year. The independent specialist in desktop 3D printers and handheld 3D scanners showed a range of printers.
There was the Robox and Leapfrog Creatr HS desktop 3D printers. Robox (pictured), designed by British company CEL, is a dual head desktop 3D printer. Capable of printing in a variety of materials using differently sized nozzles of 0.3 and 0.8mm, it can be used for running off small models and prototypes for product testing. The enclosed build chamber and heated PEI (Polyetherimide) build platform provides a stable print environment for increased consistency in print quality.
The Leapfrog Crear HS (High Speed) is a fast 3D printer, with a print volume is 14.8 litres with dual nozzles. It prints in a variety of materials including PLA and ABS, as well as experimental PVA, for parts requiring more complex support structures.
