Cutting tools use Dragonskin technology

Cutting tool developments could be seen at the WNT (UK) stand at Southern Manufacturing 2015, including inserts featuring the company’s Dragonskin coating technology.

14-399-WNT-tmb The inserts benefit from Dragonskin’s durability, faster cutting speeds, and improved process security across a range of turning and milling applications. The coating technology enhances tool life, says the company, with quantifiable productivity gains are up to 80%.

Insert developments include turning inserts with a chipbreaker geometry that targets close contour machining and general turning. The -XU chipbreaker overcomes machining problems, especially where swarf control is required and is available on inserts in the CNMG, DNMG, VNMG and WNMG ISO insert styles.

The company also showed its latest high feed, indexable milling system. MCR solid carbide cutters have been designed for Vortex and trochoidal milling strategies.
