Aroma-free PU coating is safer to use, says Electrolube

New acrylic polyurethane and UV cure conformal coatings will be the highlight of the Electrolube stand at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2014.

Electrolube Preview edit_tmb Designed to protect electronic circuitry, the new polyurethane coating, PUCAF, is free from aromatic content, says the company, and contains no isocyanates, making it safer and more user-friendly for the operator. It fluoresces under UV light to aid inspection. The modified polyurethane conformal coating is tough, flexible and with a touch-dry time of less than 10 minutes, can increase throughput. It is certified to and compliant with RoHS, MIL-1-46058C, DEF-STAN 59/47 and IPC-CC-830.

Also new is the UV cure conformal coating, UVCL, which is claimed to provide the highest level of protection of electronic circuitry at exceptionally high speeds of application. It cures within seconds upon exposure to UV light.  The low viscosity, single component conformal coating is claimed to significantly reduce the time taken to complete the conformal coating step. It is designed for automated processes using selective spray technology (other spraying techniques, and brush application may also be used). The low viscosity of this next generation, VOC-free coating allows the application of relatively thin films without the need for dilution. The non-flammable, flexible coating provides moisture and chemical resistance at minimal cost and fluoresces under UV light for ease of inspection.

Finally, visitors can also see the aromatic free acrylic coating, AFA, a flexible and transparent acrylic conformal coating that complies with RoHS, military and IPC standards. It has been formulated to meet many of today’s commercial applications, says the company. Designed to protect electronic circuitry and operator safety, the coating is free from aromatic solvents, such as Toluene and Xylene, and contains no isocyanates, which means it can be soldered through without fear of highly toxic gases being produced. It also fluoresces under UV light to facilitate inspection and provides mechanical and dielectric properties.

Expert chemists and the management team will be able to guide visitors through the range of cleaning, contact lubricants, conformal coatings, thermal management materials, encapsulation resins and service and maintenance products.
