Double celebration for Rutland Plastics

Injection moulding company, Rutland Plastics celebrates 65 years in business and is celebrating being awarded Processor of the Year 2021, in the Plastic Industry Awards. The award recognises UK processors (manufacturers of finished components and products using plastics materials) who demonstrate sustainable performances across areas such as technical innovation, people development, manufacturing efficiency, customer relations and environmental concerns.

“We are incredibly proud to have this prestigious award, especially as the company celebrated its 65th birthday this year,” said Steve Ayre, managing director of Rutland Plastics.

Thee company first started out injection moulding in 1956 and has expanded its site in Oakham to over  6130 square metres, employing over 150 staff. The family run custom injection moulder serves a variety of industries, for example, agriculture, construction, medical and utilities.

The company also offers 3D printing to produce rapid fully functional prototypes in-house for customers to confidently test the functionality of products prior to committing to the investment in a mould tool. The 3D production system prints with FDM Nylon 12 Carbon Fibre (CF) and ASA for strength and stiffness to prototypes and can produce low volume production parts, jigs and fixtures, plus end-of-arm robot tooling.

It also offers the Fortus system which uses a wide range of thermoplastics with advanced mechanical properties so that parts can endure heat, caustic chemicals and high impact applications.
