New board connector from Yamaichi resists shocks

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics exhibitor Yamaichi Electronics has announced a new floating board-to-board connector system, the HF301 series.  Designed for use in difficult environmental conditions, the firm says the floating mechanism employed in the HF301 allows for reliable operation even when subject to shock and vibration.

The specially designed contacts used in the HF301 series incorporate a floating design in X, Y and Z dimensions ensuring mechanical stability under all vibration and shock conditions. The electromechanical system is high-speed capable with a maximum data transfer rate of 8Gbps. Additional power pins are integrated into the design. The board-to-board connector system consists of a plug and a socket with 102 signal contacts each and 4 power contacts for up to 5A.

The HF301 series was developed and tested to meet demanding automotive specifications. However, the firm says its shock and vibration-resistant design also makes it suitable for similarly demanding applications such as harsh industrial environments. The connectors are manufactured in IATF16949-certified companies.
